All is not sweetness and light with the Lib-dems on the Tory-run Surrey County Council with 31 childrens centres to close shortly together with a cut in the number of bus passes, cut in libraries, local tips and services for special educational needs and disabilities.
In Woking the council plans to close 31 of Surrey’s 58 childrens centres in Brookwood, Horsell, Old Woking, Pyrford and St. Johns’s.
Lib-Dem County Councillor Will Forster said:- ” I am appalled that so many childrens centres are threatened with closure – they do a vital job in supporting families with young children. Under the Tories, austerity is sadly not coming to an end in Surrey.”
He added:- “I hope families and other residents will support all five of these key services that the Surrey County Council is considering cutting by responding to the consultation before 4th. January 2019”.
